You CAN Teach an Old Dog New Tricks (... if you have Moodle)
Abstract
Our presentation will be divided into two parts. The first one will deal with four years of experience with Moodle in the academic environment of Masaryk University (MU), which is a rather traditional setting, thus difficult to adapt to new ways of teaching.
The second part will discuss in more detail the original module developed by Anna Vanova for effective and intensive drilling combined with sophisticated feedback tools originally designed for specific needs of foreign language students.
About the presenters
Tamara Vanova (1954) is a teacher of English in the English Dept. of the Pedagogical Faculty, Masaryk University. She is to blame for the introduction and adoption of Moodle as the official faculty VLE. She designs e-courses, teaches in them, and attempts at training undergraduate e-tutors (i. e. gives them the theoretical and practical basics).
Anna Vanova (1981) graduated from the Faculty of Informatics, MU and works at the Centre for e-learning Support at Masaryk University. The experience she gained while working with Moodle (installation, administration, user support, development, teaching) is helping her to apply rational guidelines to the development of e-learning within Masaryk University.
