Tutoring competencies in the Web 2.0 Scenario

Abstract

The master on "Tutoring for Distance Learning" offered by the Facoltà di Scienze della Formazione at the University of Padova, Italy, addresses the concept of Distributed Learning in a 3-week learning module designed to promote the acquaintance with new communication channels, styles and streams. Moodle becomes a hub where Blogs, Videoblogs, Podcasting shows created by the students get connected as RSS Channels or embedded in audio-forums, glossary-collections and Books. The complexity of mediation in distributed environments is the focus of the paper. The web 2.0 Scenario, when adopted as "expanded" learning environment, required new e-tutoring models and some creativity in order to change the metaphors applied to the resources Moodle already offers.
