Day 2

Using micro learning to support entrepreneurs

How can you reach learners outside of your organisation and who work outdoors – not in an office and with a computer? And how do you engage those who don’t even look for your course?

This was the challenge posed by the Swedish Growth Agency and Hushållningssällskapet, a national organisation supporting green sector businesses. Their goal was to help small and mid-sized agricultural companies in Sweden build digital skills and business insight.

In this session, we’ll walk you through the journey of a bold digital learning experiment. We set up real-world A/B tests to find the most effective ways of delivering training to the target group. The content stayed the same—but how we delivered it changed.

We used a micro learning module to create simple, mobile-friendly micro courses and a messaging tool to send SMS and email-based nudges tied to course milestones. The result was a kind of subscription experience with personalised reminders, short bursts of content, and no assumptions about user behavior.

If we want to close the digital divide, we must meet learners where they are and find means to deliver just enough information at just the right time.

Attendees will leave with:

  • What we learned from live A/B testing with real learners
  • Data on how different notification strategies impacted engagement
  • A look at the tools

Why will this session matter to people beyond the Moodle community? Tell us how your topic connects with bigger conversations in higher education, workplace learning, or EdTech.

This session matters to workplace learning as it will show how to support continuous learning and enhance learner engagement with micro learning.
