Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is a constant focus in the development of moodlemoot.org, which is built on WordPress. With every theme update, plugin upgrade and content release, we dedicate resources to improve accessibility so that everyone can use our site. We welcome your suggestions for making moodlemoot.org more accessible.

This website is built according to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA compliance.

This means you should be able to:

  • Enlarge text by zooming in your browser.
  • Read text and view images that have high contrast to their background.
  • Change background and text colours, and adjust fonts using browser settings or plugins.
  • Navigate the site using only a keyboard (for example, using Tab, Enter, and arrow keys)
  • Navigate using a screen-reader and speech-recognition software.
  • Listen to text and image descriptions using a screen-reader (such as NVDA or VoiceOver).

Built-in accessibility tools

  • Gutenberg Editor Accessibility
Our content editors use the built-in accessibility checks in the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg), which flags common issues such as missing image alt text, insufficient heading structure, and low-contrast colour combinations.
  • WP Accessibility Functionality
We use the WP Accessibility plugin to automatically add skip-to-content links, improve focus outlines, and fix known markup issues that can impede assistive technologies.
