In emerging economies like Argentina, the digital transformation of education is not merely a technological shift — it is a human-centred social imperative.
Years of economic instability and limited access to technology have left many independent educators and knowledge professionals disconnected from digital ecosystems. Yet these individuals hold invaluable expertise, resilience, and passion that the future of learning urgently needs.
This session introduces ALMA — a human-centred framework that guides professionals through the transition to digital education. ALMA stands for Awakening, Landing, Mapping, Alignment, and it supports the step-by-step creation of robust, scalable learning environments using Moodle.
The process acknowledges that establishing a digital educational presence is not immediate: it unfolds through conscious stages, each requiring specific attention, appropriate tools, and emotional resilience. From creating a minimal viable campus to progressively developing competency-based learning ecosystems, Moodle enables educators to reclaim their role not merely as content providers, but as human bridges of learning in an increasingly automated world.
Artificial intelligence also plays a key role in this transformation. Drawing from years of experience exploring both early and current AI tools, the session demonstrates how platforms like ChatGPT can support educators in designing richer Moodle-based courses — from generating content and assessments to creating interactive activities, rubrics, and learning sequences. Rather than replacing the educator, AI becomes an ally in streamlining the creative process and expanding instructional possibilities.
This session equips participants with the ALMA framework, grounded in real-world practice and designed for immediate application. It also addresses common psychological barriers — frustration, overwhelm, fear of falling behind — and how strategic support and empathy can help bridge these gaps.
