Reimagining course design for the streaming generation (why user interface matters)

Popular streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ are intuitive, personalised, and visually immersive—so why can’t Moodle offer the same experience? In this session, we explore how and why we built a new Moodle course format and custom activities inspired by the interfaces people already know and love.

We’ll showcase a course that looks and feels radically different from a traditional Moodle setup—an experience designed to draw learners in, guide them effortlessly, and deliver content in a way that feels modern, dynamic, and familiar. By aligning Moodle’s capabilities with UI patterns from mainstream media platforms, we’re not just making things “look nicer”—we’re rethinking how learning can be structured, delivered, and enjoyed.
