Day 2

Active pedagogies: the effects of AI on student engagement

How can artificial intelligence meaningfully support student engagement, without replacing the human touch? In this 30-minute session, the Wooclap team will explore how AI can reinforce active pedagogies by supporting the four pillars of learning described by neuroscientist Stanislas Dehaene: attention, active engagement, feedback, and memory consolidation.

Drawing from our work with educators and learning designers, we’ll show how Wooclap’s AI features are designed to strengthen these pillars in practical ways. By analysing knowledge resources and extracting key information from it in seconds, these features help educators focus on what matters the most: pedagogy.

Throughout the session, we’ll demonstrate how these AI tools are already used to boost attention and engagement in both synchronous and asynchronous settings. Whether creating quick knowledge checks or preparing a revision session based on textbook excerpts, participants will see concrete examples of how AI saves time while reinforcing active learning.

This workshop is for anyone interested in designing learning experiences that are both interactive and grounded in cognitive science. Join us to explore how Wooclap’s pedagogical approach to AI can help create more effective, engaging learning moments, inside and outside the LMS.

Attendees will leave with concrete examples of how AI can support active pedagogies and impact positively student engagement as well as insights they can apply immediately.
