Scaling learning: The UN’s Moodle Workplace story

This session will explore how the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) has harnessed Moodle Workplace to create systemic value across the UN system. Faced with the challenge of delivering scalable, equitable, and policy-aligned learning to a decentralized network of agencies, UNSSC adopted Moodle Workplace as the backbone of its digital learning ecosystem.

The session will showcase how Moodle Workplace’s native features, alongside strategic customizations, have been effectively utilized to support continuous learning for UN personnel. It will also highlight how cooperation with Synergy Learning and support by Moodle HQ contributed to this development. In addition, we will present our last project on the development of a new AI-powered recommendation system, advancing personalisation and user engagement.

By the end of the session, participants will gain insights into using Moodle Workplace not just as a learning platform, but as a driver of systemic transformation, personalisation, and partnership-led innovation within large, complex institutions.
