Enhancing your Moodle site, discovering the plugin you need or finding new ways to empower your e-learning project are only some of the things that our sponsors can do for you.

Today we speak to our silver sponsor VitalSource to find out about their MoodleMoot mission.

Moodle HQ: For those unfamiliar with VitalSource, can you please tell us a little bit about your company? What services do you provide?

VitalSource: VitalSource® is a global leader in building, enhancing, and delivering e-learning content. VitalSource offers best-in-breed technology, enterprise-level scalability, industry leading analytics, and the broadest digital content catalog in higher education. The VitalSource Bookshelf® platform is the most used eTextbook delivery platform in higher education. Content from more than 7,500 of the world’s top academic publishers is available to Bookshelf users, including those living with disabilities, on a variety of operating systems and devices.

Moodle HQ: What can Moodlers expect or look forward to from VitalSource’s presence at the upcoming MoodleMoot US 2018 in Denver?

VitalSource: VitalSource is looking forward to speaking with attendees about exciting updates including the acquisition of Acrobatiq, the new simplified courseware integrations, and what these mean for Moodle customers. In addition, VitalSource is excited to share brand new research on course materials and the Inclusive Access model. For example, did you know that 72% of instructors teaching in Inclusive Access agree that the model reduces costs for students? Or that a national survey of instructors revealed that while students are reliant on the LMS as a central point of access for most course materials, instructors rate the LMS as the least important factor in course materials selection, regardless of its ease of use for students?

Moodle HQ: What has been one of the best and memorable Moodle projects that VitalSource has worked on and supported?

VitalSource: VitalSource funded the addition of LTI 2 support to Moodle 2.8, and later funded the implementation of Moodle’s support of the LTI Content-Item message service, which improves the workflow for adding links to external tools, in Moodle 3.2.
VitalSource is actively developing its support for LTI Advantage and eagerly anticipates LTI Advantage support coming in Moodle 3.6.
