The Innovet XR Dashboards project is an ambitious collaboration between Eummena, SupportSquare, and Go! Schools, aimed at transforming the educational landscape in Flanders, Belgium. With a focus on aligning with the Flemish Ministry of Education’s learning outcomes framework, this pioneering initiative seeks to integrate advanced learning tools into school platforms, merging the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) and an XR application platform.
By leveraging XR technology, the project creates an immersive and engaging learning experience. A crucial component of this integration is the meticulous capture and management of relevant learning data in an advanced Learning Record Store (LRS). Serving as a central repository, the LRS tracks and monitors student progress, enabling accurate assessment of learning outcomes. The XR system transmits data to the LRS, which is then retrieved by Moodle for further processing. This seamless integration facilitates progress monitoring, learning outcome assessment, and the creation of dynamic dashboards.
The project harnesses the rich “xAPI statements” stored in the LRS to generate holistic and actionable dashboards within the Moodle platform. These dashboards provide teachers with valuable insights into student performance, empowering them to adapt instructional strategies and provide personalised support. Additionally, the project introduces a pioneering system of transferable badges that enables students to showcase their acquired competences through digital credentials directly in Moodle. This innovative feature not only recognises and motivates students’ achievements but also fosters a culture of continuous learning and growth.
The seamless integration of XR technology, Moodle LMS, LRS, and the badge system represents a significant leap forward in competency-based learning with a focus on education for mastery.
