Women in (Ed)Tech: When men’s restroom queues are longer than women’s

Are you ready to know more about some of the “techy” women in Moodle HQ?

In the rapidly evolving world of technology and educational technologies, the representation and inclusion of women remain pressing challenges. This short talk aims to share life experiences and point of view of some women in the tech industry and specifically in the field of educational technologies.

The talk will commence by highlighting the current gender disparity in the tech sector, emphasising the underrepresentation of women in technical roles, leadership positions, and entrepreneurship. Some female Moodlers will showcase their diverse backgrounds and career trajectories. Their stories will provide insights into the various paths women have taken to enter and succeed in the industry, breaking stereotypes and defying societal expectations. Additionally, the talk will discuss about the importance of dismantling these barriers to create a more inclusive and diverse tech ecosystem.

The speakers will talk about the challenges faced by them as women, such as gender biases, imposter syndrome, and a lack of representation and mentorship. By openly discussing these obstacles, the talk aims to inspire empathy and promote a supportive environment that encourages more women to pursue tech careers.

By amplifying women’s voices and nurturing their talent, we can create a future where women can also contribute to shape the transformative power of technology in education.
