Interview with Tiny Technologies

Can you introduce your company and the specific solution you offer to your clients?

Tiny Technologies: We’ve been a leader in advanced rich text editing solutions for over 20 years. Our flagship product, TinyMCE, is the world’s most trusted WYSIWYG HTML editor, integrated by over 1.5 million developers into more than 100 million products at companies such as Shopify, Atlassian, and Microsoft. We combine open-source versatility with premium features to offer unparalleled customisation and integration, enhancing the value for both Moodle users and integrators.

If you have attended a MoodleMoot before, could you share your impressions of previous events?

Tiny Technologies: We’ve always been inspired by the vibrant community and thought leadership present at Moot. Past events have offered invaluable opportunities for networking, sharing best practices, and discussing the latest trends in eLearning technology. The exchange of ideas at these conferences continuously fuels our commitment to enhancing the Moodle ecosystem with cutting-edge solutions like TinyMCE.

What are you most looking forward to at MoodleMoot Global 2024?

Tiny Technologies: We’re looking forward to engaging with the Moodle community, partners, and customers in Mérida this year. We’re eager to help educate everyone on how to best use TinyMCE within the platform to improve content creation and management, and to learn from others’ experiences to help innovate our product to meet the future needs of Moodle users.

We’re also launching a TinyMCE Awards program for Moodle users this year. We want to honour those who are using TinyMCE to create engaging, high-quality content and innovative projects within Moodle. Submit your project for consideration, and we’ll notify our winners by early December.

Why would you recommend that your clients attend MoodleMoot Global?

Tiny Technologies: MoodleMoot Global offers unparalleled insights into the future of eLearning. Attendees will have the chance to connect with industry leaders, participate in hands-on workshops, and gain valuable knowledge on integrating Moodle and TinyMCE effectively. The event is a gateway to discovering the latest educational technologies and strategies, making it an essential experience for anyone involved in online teaching and training.

How long has your company been working with Moodle?

Tiny Technologies: Our collaboration with Moodle dates back to its early days, reflecting a long-standing relationship built on shared goals of enhancing educational experiences. Over the years, TinyMCE has become a core part of the platform, especially with our adoption as the default editor in Moodle version 4.2. In 2023, TinyMCE became a Moodle Certified Integration Partner, and since Moodle 4.3, you have an easy-to-implement path to activating TinyMCE Premium features in your Moodle instance.

Is there any recent work or project from your company that you would like to highlight?

Tiny Technologies: This last year we focused on developing features that enhance collaboration and content usability for your users.

Our Revision History feature offers a straightforward solution for tracking document changes, which helps maintain clear and accurate records of content revisions.

We also upgraded our document conversion capabilities, enabling fast and stylistically accurate importing of content from Microsoft Word as well as exports that preserve all content formatting to either PDF or Microsoft Word formats.

These features meet the practical needs of educators and students, and we are committed to delivering future solutions based on user feedback and evolving requirements in the eLearning space.

Are there any additional insights or upcoming trends in e-learning that you would like to discuss?

Tiny Technologies:

AI-powered content creation has already transformed the way we produce online content, with predictions that in the near future, a significant portion of it will be generated or enhanced by AI. Far from a passing trend— all essential workplace tools will contain some form of AI in the near future. TinyMCE’s AI Assistant is a key player in this shift, supporting multiple AI models such as Google Gemini, AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

TinyMCE focuses on making AI accessible and useful for everyone. Pre-built prompts, proven to increase AI adoption and deliver more relevant content, are a key feature. Whether you’re new to AI or a seasoned pro, you can start with these suggestions, tweak them, and eventually build your own from scratch. This flexibility means that no matter your skill level, you can harness the power of AI to create educational and instructional content faster and more efficiently.

This coming year, we’ll keep adding AI capabilities into parts of the editor where it makes the most sense. TinyMCE helps save time and streamline the creation of educational and instructional content—enhancing productivity for content developers.

How can people contact you for more information if they would like to know more about your company and services?
