Javier is a Senior Learning Technology and Design Advisor at the Edinburgh Futures Institute and an Associate for the Centre for Research in Digital Education at the University of Edinburgh. He also works as a digital education consultant. He is interested in both cutting-edge digital technologies for teaching and learning, and low-tech, mobile-first educational settings.
At the University of Edinburgh, Javier collaborates with Course Organisers and Programme Directors, recently focusing on bespoke, custom AI educational tools for teaching and learning. As a consultant, he works on projects for rural school teachers in Peru and Bolivia and has supported universities in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria with their transition to digital education.
Javier holds a BSc in Psychopedagogy and an MA in International Development from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), and an MSc in Digital Education with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland, UK).
At MoodleMoot Global 2024 Javier will be presenting Postdigital Learning Spaces in Rural Peru: Reaching Teachers from Low-resource Remote Communities.
