Two Decades of Transition: Sharing IPN’s Experiences in Virtual Education

For nearly two decades, the Virtual Education Directorate [Dirección de Educación Virtual] (DEV) of the National Polytechnic Institute [Instituto Politécnico Nacional] (IPN) has been a pioneer in adapting and evolving online learning environments, facilitating the transition to a more inclusive and accessible educational model.

This presentation will focus on sharing the successful strategies and outcomes achieved over the years in our “Polivirtual” model, which integrates multiple instances of Moodle along with complementary tools to provide accessible and high-quality education.

The core of “Polivirtual” includes six specific Moodle instances for each educational level, from the development and testing phase to full production implementation. We highlight our commitment to quality and security through a rigorous scheme of testing and QA labs, deploying an active and passive monitoring system, ensuring availability and optimal performance.

Data analytics plays a crucial role in “Polivirtual”; with nearly 105 million records analyzed to adapt educational content to the needs of students, identified through their interactions with the platform.
