Implementing a holistic gamification approach in Moodle Workplace

In the ever-evolving landscape of learning technologies, the integration of gamification elements has emerged as a powerful tool to enhance user engagement and motivation. This presentation delves into the implementation of a gamification project within the Moodle Workplace platform, aimed at revolutionizing the e-learning experience.

The project’s scope centers around the incorporation of gamification elements and a reward scheme, leveraging two main mechanisms. Firstly, the Points & Level mechanism enables users to earn points by completing various activities, courses, or engaging in online events within the Learning Management System (LMS). Users ascend different levels based on their points accumulation and their progress is depicted in the respective leaderboards.

Additionally, the Coins mechanism incentivizes users with coins upon specific LMS interactions. These coins can be redeemed in a virtual “store” for a variety of rewards, enriching the learning journey. The Marketplace solution facilitates this feature, offering users a tangible way to benefit from their participation and achievements.

Furthermore, the gamification mechanism allows for the creation of custom learning paths as missions, which can award users additional points for completion within a specified timeframe. Conversely, users may lose points if these missions are not completed on time.

This presentation will include demos of how Moodle Workplace can be used to transform traditional e-learning paradigms into immersive, interactive experiences that inspire and empower learners.
