This interactive session is designed to gather valuable insights from Moodle Users Association (MUA) and other community members attending MoodleMoot Global 2024. We will employ the 4Ls Retrospective Technique to delve into participants’ experiences with the Moodle Community (in particular moodle.org and Moodle Academy), focusing on what participants liked, learned, lacked and longed for. This technique will help us gather feedback and to help us to brainstorm ways to better engage and support Moodlers new and old.
What are the 4Ls?
The 4 Ls is a retrospective technique where team members identify what they loved, loathed, learned, and longed for in a project or sprint of work. The insights we gather from this process will feed into our future planning for the Moodle Community roadmap.
Loved:
- Participants share what they loved about their experience with the Moodle Community.
- This helps identify the strengths and positive aspects that should be preserved and built upon.
Lacked:
- Participants discuss what they lacked or found frustrating.
- This uncovers pain points and areas for improvement, helping to identify and address user dissatisfaction.
Learned:
- Participants share the knowledge, skills, or insights they gained.
- This highlights the educational value and the effectiveness of Moodle’s support and learning resources.
Longed For:
- Participants express their desires and wishes for future developments.
- This provides a vision for future enhancements, reflecting the community’s aspirations.
Session Outline
- Depending on numbers, participants may be divided into two groups.
- Each group (max 5) will conduct the 4Ls workshop, sharing their thoughts and discussing them.
- Groups will then switch, allowing all participants to contribute, reflect and vote on the ideas from the other group.
- Discussion will focus on the topics with the highest number of votes.
- Wrap up the session – how we plan to use the insights from this workshop.
